Hull Trains Section of the Railways Pension Scheme (RPS)

My Ref: MRP 1/8/9

18th May 2021

Circular Num: NP/160/2021

To: The Secretary All Branches & Regional Councils

Dear Colleagues,

HULL TRAINS SECTION OF THE RAILWAYS PENSION SCHEME (RPS) –
FINAL REMINDER TO VOTE
MEMBERS SHOULD RETURN THEIR BALLOT PAPER
NO LATER THAN THURSDAY 20TH MAY 2021

I refer to my previous Circular, NP/145/21, 4th May 2021, by now Hull Trains members should have received their ballot paper for the above dispute, from the independent scrutineer, Civica. If any members have not yet done so, please make sure they return their ballot paper to the scrutineer by the closing date of Thursday 20th May 2021.

I need to remind our members that it is important that they vote YES for strike action in support of their future pension rights because anything other than a clear mandate for industrial action will send the wrong message to management who seem to think they can do whatever they want when it comes to our members deferred pay.

If any members have not received their ballot paper or you know of a colleague who has not received theirs, they should email info@rmt.org.uk or contact the RMT Helpline on 0800 376 3706 and a replacement ballot paper will be sent out to their home address first class post.

It is imperative that we get a massive return in the ballot for industrial action, so we are not prevented from acting on our members' wishes by the ballot thresholds. Failure to meet these thresholds means industrial action cannot happen, so a high turnout is crucial.

I urge our members to vote 'YES' for strike action and 'YES' for action short of a strike to force management back to the table to discuss the important issues at the heart of this dispute.

MEMBERS SHOULD NOT WASTE THEIR VOTE
VOTE 'YES' FOR STRIKE ACTION AND 'YES' FOR ACTION SHORT OF A STRIKE

I will, of course, keep you fully advised on any further developments.

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch
General Secretary
