IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL TFL PENSION FUND MEMBERS

YOUR FINAL SALARY PENSION IS UNDER THREAT YOUR ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED

As a result of over 200 TfL Pension Fund (TfLPF) members completing Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) requisition forms an EGM has been called for Friday 25th April 2014.

The purpose of the EGM is to discuss and debate the two Motions which were submitted with the requisition forms, the Right to Join, and Suspension of Transfers In.

The intention of the EGM is for all members (contributing, deferred and pensioners) of the TfLPF to make their feeling known about these two Motions. This meeting will give fund members a chance to send a clear message to both management and the Trustee Board that they believe that all workers employed throughout LUL should be allowed to join the TfLPF (the Right to join), and that you disagree with the decision to suspend transfers in for a further 3 years.

Please find attached a RMT Briefing Note explaining the issues surrounding both Motions in more detail.

Now the EGM has been called it is crucial that as many fund members as possible attend this meeting in support of these Motions. Without fund members attendance the Motions will be meaningless so I would therefore urge all members of the TfLPF, regardless of being a RMT member or not, to make every effort to attend this meeting.

While there may be members of the fund who feel that these issues are irrelevant to their particular circumstances I need to make it clear that this is not the case. If management feel that this meeting does not reflect the true feeling of TfLPF members then they will see this has a freehand to make future decisions unchallenged i.e. excluding certain employees from the fund and refusing to allow members to transfer in benefits from external sources.

So that individual can have their say in the event of being unable to attend the EGM I have attached a Proxy Vote example and Form for individuals to complete which will allow those who are attending the EGM to vote on their behalf.

You will note that the Proxy Vote form needs to be completed and sent to the Fund Secretary at least 48 hours before the EGM.

All members of the TfLPF should have received a notice of the EGM outlining the business to be discussed. The meeting will be held at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, Broad Sanctuary, Westminster, London SW1P 3EE.

The meeting will commence at 14:00. If you have not received this notice you should contact the Fund Office on 020 7918 2906 or details can be found on the following link:
