30^TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE 84/85 MINERS’ STRIKE – WAPC FILM

 

In 2004 the National Women Against Pit Closures (WAPC) organised an International Celebration for the role of women in the 84/85 Great Miners’ Strike by bringing together women in struggle from all over the world.  This celebration took place at Wortley Hall over a weekend in October. 

 

The North Staffs Miners’ Wives Action Group want to produce a film from the footage taken at this celebration for next year’s 30^th Anniversary. They have contacted the union to request help raising funds for the necessary editing and production costs.

 

Any donations towards the making of this important film would be welcomed.  The film will be available for screening at International Women’s Day 2014 events and for branch meetings throughout the trade union movement.  Please make cheques payable to North Staffs Miners’ Wives Action Group and send to the Secretary, Brenda Procter, 139 Sneyd Street, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent ST6 2NY.
