Action against P&O – Larne, Friday 27th May

Circular No.NP/118/22

To all Branches and Regional Councils

11th May 2022

Dear Colleagues

Action against P&O – Larne, Friday 27th May

Further to Circular no. 109/22 of 27th April 2022, the union is organising another demonstration against P&O Ferries in Larne on Friday 27th May.

P&O continue to operate ferries from Larne with agency crew on lower pay and longer contracts than the RMT members that were thrown out of work on the European Causeway on 17th March. The series of safety failings on the European Causeway illustrate P&O’s increased threat to maritime safety in the Irish Sea and it is essential that the union continues to highlight this through public demonstrations.

The details for the action are:

Larne – Protest: Larne Harbour Ltd (port entrance) 9 Olderfleet Road, Larne Northern Ireland, BT40 1AS. From 2pm.

P&O Ferries own Larne and RMT members and activists are strongly encouraged to participate in this demonstration to keep the pressure up on this rogue employer and UK Government Ministers. The cost of attendance is a legitimate use of Branch funds.

I would be grateful if you could bring the content of this circular to the attention of all members in your Branch and you will be kept updated with further developments.

Yours sincerely

Mick Lynch
General Secretary
