Further to Circular no. 118/22 of 11th May 2022, the union is organising a series of further demonstrations against P&O Ferries’ disgraceful assault on seafarer members’ jobs and livelihoods. Shipping Branches and all members are strongly encouraged to attend.

The details of the planned actions in May and June are as follows:

Monday 6th June, 1.45pm blockade of P&O Cairnryan Port, DG9 8RG: Buses will be leaving from the RMT office, 180 Hope Street Glasgow G2 2UE at 11.45 am, returning from Cairnryan around 4pm. To reserve a space on a bus please email l.dobbin@rmt.org.uk or call 0141 332 1117.

Wednesday 8th June, Midday Dover: Assemble RMT Maritime House, Snargate Street, Dover CT17 9BZ. Demonstration in support of the Fair Ferries campaign and against seafarer employment conditions at low cost ferry operators in Dover port, namely P&O Ferries and Irish Ferries.

Flags, banners and other paraphernalia will be distributed on the day. The cost of attending anti-P&O actions is a legitimate form of Branch expenditure.

I would be grateful if you could bring the content of this circular to the attention of all members in your Branch and you will be kept updated with further developments.

Yours sincerely
