Dear Colleagues,

ALL WALES ROUTE NETWORK RAIL

I am writing to you with an update further to motions submitted to our GGC from our North West and North Wales Regional Council and Wrexham Branch on the impact of Network Rail devolution to an “All Wales Route”.

Concerns have been expressed that the resources will be centralised to Cardiff to the detriment of members in North Wales. This includes moving rostering from Shrewsbury to Cardiff and proposals for modular signalling.

RMT will be campaigning to protect signal workers jobs in Wales and we are pursuing the matter with our Parliamentary Group and Wales Assembly Group.

I will also be arranging a meeting with Network Rail and will keep you informed of developments.
