Dear Colleagues

Bevan Day - Celebrate 75 years of the NHS and its founder, Aneurin Bevan

This year is the 75th Anniversary since the National Health Service (NHS) was created and the Wales TUC are holding an event to celebrate this success and acknowledge the hard work, commitment, and sacrifices of those who have kept this public service going, both during and since the pandemic, despite the financial pressures and staffing shortages.

Join us in Tredegar to celebrate 75 years of the NHS and its founder, Aneurin Bevan.

This family friendly event is open to everyone and we hope to see a big trade union presence so please bring your RMT flags and banners.

The event will start with a parade from Nye Bevan’s House (Charles Street, NP22 4AA) to the bandstand at Bedwellty Park. The parade will be led by the Tredegar Brass Band.

At midday we will hear speeches at the bandstand from well-known trade unionists including Eddie Dempsey (RMT) Mark Serwotka (PCS) Patrick Roach (NASWUT), Jo Grady (UCU) and Claire Sullivan (CSP) and the TUC's Assistant General Secretary, Kate Bell.

Date/Time: Sunday 2nd July 2023 - 11:00am to 15:00pm

Meeting point: Nye Bevan’s House (Charles Street, NP22 4AA)
