Burston Strike School Rally

Tuesday 11 August 2015

Circular No. National Policy NP/150/15/BO

To the Secretary all Branches,
Council of Executive members,
Regional Councils and Regional Offices.

Dear Colleagues,

Burston Strike School Rally

RMT members, as well as friends and family, are all invited to attend and join the
Burston Strike School Rally on Sunday 6th September. This is an annual rally to celebrate the longest strike in history, when schoolchildren ‘went on strike’ from 1914 until 1939 to support their teachers, sacked for their socialist and trade union views.

It will take place from 11.00am to 3.45 Church Green, Burston, Norfolk IP22 5TP.
Nearest train station is Diss (to the South of Norwich).

This year is especially important given the new assault on Trade Unions unleashed by this Tory government. Speakers include Jeremy Corbyn MP, Christine Blower (NUT) Matt Wrack [FBU), Mike Jackson (Co-founder of Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners and USDAW activist). It will be co-chaired by Megan Dobney SERTUC and Clive Lewis MP

Music from The Hurriers (http://thehurriers.co.uk/), RMT Brass band, Elvis McGonagall and Red Flags. There will be food and drink (though attendees are welcome to bring picnics)

Further information is at https://burstonstrikeschool.wordpress.com/2015-rally/

Please urge everyone to attend this important rally and bring RMT t-shirts, flags, banners and make some noise!

Yours sincerely,

Mick Cash
General Secretary
