Circular No: NP/027/19
TO ALL BRANCHES & REGIONAL COUNCILS.
Our ref: S10/1/19
7th February 2019
Dear Colleagues
CHANGE OF TIME: Holyhead Demo for jobs and trade union rights on Irish Ferries’ WB Yeats
Further to circular no. NP/023/19 of 31st January 2019, the planned sailing of the Irish Ferries ‘super ferry’ WB Yeats has been moved by the company to later in the day.
As a result, we will assemble 11am Friday 8th February, Holyhead Port, Anglesey LL65 1DR to leaflet vehicle and freight passengers as they board the vessel in Holyhead.
RMT is mobilising members and activists to demonstrate for seafarer jobs, enforcement of employment law and trade union rights on the €144m, Cyprus registered WB Yeats which Irish Ferries has just brought into service on this key commercial ferry route. You are strongly encouraged to attend to demand pay justice, jobs and trade union recognition on the WB Yeats and across the Irish Ferries fleet.
This action is undertaken as part of the Irish Sea campaign agreed with Nautilus and SIPTU in July, and SIPTU members will be present on the quay when the WB Yeats docks in Dublin port on 8th February.
SOS 2020 and Irish Sea campaign leaflets and paraphernalia is available at the Liverpool Regional Office. The cost of travel to attend this and future maritime campaign actions is a legitimate form of Branch expenditure.
I would be grateful if you could bring the contents of this circular to the attention of members in your branch. You will be kept updated with further developments.
Yours sincerely
Mick Cash
General Secretary
