Connolly Association

Head Office Circular No. NP/229/13/MC

To the Secretary all Branches,
Council of Executive members,
Regional Councils and Regional Offices.

Monday 02nd September 2013

Dear Colleagues,

Connolly Association
I am writing to inform you that, in line with our 2013 AGM decision, the Union has now affiliated to the Connolly Association.

The Connolly Association is the longest running organisation of the Irish in Britain – established over 75 years ago. Its aims were to work for the complete freedom of the Irish people; and provide  a social and cultural centre for the promotion of the teachings of James Connolly, and to show solidarity with oppressed nations and peoples throughout the world - sentiments which continue in the present constitution of the Association.

The work of the Association focuses on building popular support in Britain for an independent and united Ireland, with a particular emphasis on the Trade Union movement and other democrats.  The Association is supportive of the Good Friday Agreement as a step towards Irish Unity.

I enclose an affiliation form and strongly encourage all branches and Regional Councils to affiliate.

Yours sincerely

Bob Crow
General Secretary
