Head Office Circular No: NP/20/25
TO ALL BRANCHES AND REGIONAL COUNCILS
10th February 2025
Dear colleague,
Covid-19 Public Inquiry – Two ways members can get make their voices heard
The Covid-19 Public Inquiry has been set up to examine the UK’s response to and impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and learn lessons for the future. The Inquiry has been in session since July 2022 and will continue to the end of this year.
RMT has been feeding into the Inquiry as part of the TUC, working to make sure that the experience of our members as transport keyworkers, is heard loud and clear by the Inquiry. But we also encourage members to contribute their experience directly to the evidence gathering sessions. There are two main ways that members can do this.
1. Complete this confidential TUC survey - it should only take a few minutes of your time and will help the TUC to build its evidence base direct from members: https://tuccampaigns.typeform.com/covidinquiry
2. Contribute your story directly to the Inquiry through its ‘Every Story Matters’ tool. These shared experiences will then be collated, analysed, and fed into the Inquiry’s investigations through summary reports:
https://covid19.public-inquiry.uk/every-story-matters/
I encourage all members to get involved in the Inquiry, particularly now as the focus is shifting onto the experience of keyworkers.
You can read an RMT Policy Briefing containing evidence we are submitting to the Inquiry here: https://www.rmt.org.uk/news/members-updates/rmt-policy-briefing-covid-inquiry-evidence-paper-the-experience/?preview=true
I would be grateful if you could bring the contents of this circular to the attention of your members.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
