Cut fares not staff - Day of action - Wednesday 14th August

Circular No. NP/121/19

To the Secretary all Branches and Regional Councils.

04 July 2019

Dear Colleagues,

14TH AUGUST – CUT FARES NOT STAFF DAY OF ACTION

Dear Colleagues,

Further to my circular NP/105 of 11th June 2019, the RPI figure announced in August will be used by the Government to calculate yet another rail fare hike from January 2020.

As with previous years, the Union will be holding various ‘Cut fares not staff’ action days at stations around the country on Wednesday 14th August – the day the RPI figure is announced.

We will be campaigning against job and service cuts across the network at a time when train companies continue to increase fares and rake in huge profits.

Branches which plan to hold action days at any stations in their area should let us know by Thursday 1 August 2019, in order that campaigning materials can be sent out in advance of the day of action. Please also advise which address the materials should be posted to.

Please do all you can to build for these important demonstrations and campaigning opportunities.

Yours sincerely,

Mick Cash
General Secretary
