Disability Confident Scheme

Head Office Circular No. NP/2/23

Ref: EO/27

To all Branches and Regional Councils

4th January 2023

Dear Colleagues,

Disability Confident Scheme

Our Disabled Members Conference brought their concerns to the AGM over the UK Government’s Disability Confident Scheme.  Whilst the principles of the scheme aim to encourage employers to improve how they recruit, retain and develop disabled people, there is no accountability or performance measures and has been described as a “failure”.

As part of establishing whether the companies we negotiate with do meet the aspirations of the Disability Confident Scheme I am carrying out an all-member survey to ask about experiences of working for companies who belong to this scheme.  I would therefore be grateful for members to complete this short survey which can be accessed here: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/VB3LL8W

For any queries on this work, please contact our Equal Opportunities Officer, Jess Webb j.webb@rmt.org.uk

Yours sincerely
