Durham Miners Gala and Tolpuddle Gala

Tuesday 20th June 2017

Circular No. National Policy NP/90/17/BO

To the Secretary’s all Branches and Regional Council’s

Dear Colleagues,

Durham Miners Gala and Tolpuddle Gala

The Durham Miners’ Gala is an important and historic date in our movement’s calendar and one at which the RMT has always been represented.

This year they are expecting record crowds to hear Jeremy Corbyn MP, Leader of the Labour Party address this year's Gala on Saturday, 8th July.

Make sure you get along and experience the unique atmosphere of music, politics and community spirit.

If that is not enough of a great time, a week later sees the Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival - in beautiful Dorset over the weekend of Friday 14th to Sunday 16th July.

With commemorative events, music (including marching bands), kids' activities and speakers - the main march and rally takes place on the Sunday. Nearest train stations are Dorchester and Dorchester South (both to the West of Bournemouth).

Celebrate the labour movement, its history and build for the future, whilst enjoying the company of friends and comrades from all over.

Two events you should not miss, so let members know about both and encourage them to go.

Thanking you in anticipation

Yours sincerely,

Mick Cash
General Secretary
