Head Office Circular No. NP/25/23
To all Branches and Regional Councils
26th January 2023
Dear Colleagues
EMERGENCY PROTEST - Protect the right to strike – Monday 30th January 6PM – Opposite 10 Downing Street
The Government is pushing ahead with draconian legislation that launches a fundamental attack on our democratic and human rights to withdraw our labour. The Strikes (Minimum Service Levels) Bill is being rammed through by the Government and will give Grant Shapps, Secretary of State for Business, the power to set Minimum Service Levels of staffing across six different sectors including Transport, Health, Fire and Rescue, Education, Nuclear and Border Security.
The Third Reading of this Bill takes place in Parliament on Monday 30th January and I am encouraging as many branches and members as possible to attend an emergency protest to continue our fight and send a clear message to Government that we will simply not accept this attack on our fundamental and democratic rights to strike.
Details: Monday 30th January 6pm
Venue: Opposite 10 Downing Street, Whitehall, SW1A 2AA
Speakers will include workers from affected sectors and trade unionists, more information will follow.
I can also confirm that attending this protest is a legitimate use of branch funds
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
