Thursday 22nd December 2016
Circular No. National Policy NP/301/16/BO
To all Branches and Regional Councils
Dear Colleagues,
END THE RAIL RIP OFF AND DEMAND PUBLIC OWNERSHIP, AFFORDABLE FARES AND A PROPERLY STAFFED RAILWAY.
RMT and Action for Rail have organised a number of protests on the 3rd January 2017 and 4th January in Scotland to highlight all our concerns as fares rise yet again. Passengers are being made to contribute more whilst the train operating companies are paying out larger dividends to shareholders (a 21% increase in 2014-15 compared to the previous year): and by cutting staff, companies are planning to save even more money for themselves. Enough is enough. We want a railway system that is publically owned, safe, inclusive and accessible for all.
PLEASE NOTE THE STATIONS BELOW ARE ORGANISED BY THE RMT AND MEMBERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO SUPPORT THEM. OTHER STATIONS ARE STILL BEING LEAFLETTED AND A RMT PRESENCE IS IMPORTANT AT ALL.
