EQUALITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE ARRANGEMENTS

I write to confirm that the three equality advisory committees that were due to take place next month will do so as scheduled via zoom and that the Disabled Members’ Advisory Committee is being brought forward to a new date and time. The details are as follows:

Black & Ethnic Minority Members’ Advisory Committee, 11th June, 12.30pm
Women’s Advisory Committee, 17th June 2020, 1pm
Disabled Members’ Advisory Committee, 19th June, 10.30am
LGBT+ Members’ Advisory Committee, 29th June, 1pm

Please note that if branches/regions had passed resolutions for either the B&EMM, Disabled Members’ or LGBT+ Members’ conferences and would like them to be considered at these advisory committees instead, do let the Equal Opportunities Officer know as soon as possible.

The advisory committees will be discussing equalities and COVID-19 when they meet, but have drawn up a quick summary statement as attached for immediate circulation. Given that there is an emerging picture of the disproportionate impact of Covid-19 on various group, can I stress the importance of improving our own data on our membership. I would therefore be grateful if members could be encouraged to fill in all their information, but particularly ethnicity and age, to help us monitor this situation.
