Final reminder 25th June two important RMT demonstrations

Wednesday 20 June 2018

Circular No. National Policy NP/110/18

To the Secretary’s all Branches and Regional Council’s

Dear Colleagues,

Next Monday, the 25th June please either attend or support with solidarity messages two important RMT demonstrations taking place in Manchester and Edinburgh.

In Manchester RMT will be demonstrating outside a Northern transport summit where Transport Secretary Chris Grayling is due to speak, alongside Regional Mayors, Transport for the North and others responsible for the ongoing rail franchise fiasco and the plan to axe guards from Northern Rail trains. Please come along and show solidarity and support for our members. The venue is the Hilton Manchester Deansgate Hotel, 303 Deansgate, Manchester M3 4LQ and will be outside from 8am - 10am on the 25th June.

In Edinburgh the local branch is organising a protest on the first day of the new Operator of Last Resort taking over the running of East Coast. After three failures by private companies RMT is demanding that East coast be brought back into permanent public ownership and not simply run by contractors before being handed back to the private sector as a reward for failure. This protest will take place at the Market Street entrance to Edinburgh Waverley Station from 7.30 am on the 25th June.

Please show your support and encourage friends and colleagues to join us. Let’s send a clear message to this Government that we are fed up with the lies and failure of the rail franchising farce and we want an end to all privatisation along with a safe, secure and accessible railway for all.

Please do all you can to support these members on the day.

Yours sincerely,

Mick Cash
General Secretary
