Dear Colleagues,

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY – 8 MARCH 2014

To commemorate International Women’s Day on 8 March 2014, I write to highlight your union’s aim to increase union membership and participation by women throughout the transport industry.  To this end I bring to your attention the following union activities taking place this year:

National Women’s Conference: late nominations will be accepted for the women’s conference being held in Glasgow, 7-8 March 2014 at Jurys Inn. Any queries should be directed to the Equal Opportunities Officer, j.webb@rmt.org.uk t: 020 7529 8821

Women Only Public Speaking Course: please do encourage your women members to try this short 3 day course to boost self-confidence in public speaking, 28-30 April.

Women’s Training Weekend: a short 2 day course designed for women who wish to become more involved in the union but would like a better understanding of its structure and how it works, 26-27 September.

Equality at Work Courses: (three a year) this course is open to all members who wish to have a greater understanding of equality legislation and good practice at the workplace.

All applications for courses should be sent to the Education Centre in the usual way.

In addition, please also find enclosed copies of the ITF poster produced for International Women’s Day 2014 for general display.  Additional posters and copies of the Women’s Charter are also available from the Equal Opportunities Officer.  Do use this opportunity to promote the union’s campaigning for women.

Yours sincerely,

Bob Crow
General Secretary
