Circular No: NP/295/13

TO ALL BRANCHES, REGIONAL ORGANISERS, REGIONAL COUNCILS, & COUNCIL OF EXECUTIVES

Our ref: R19/3

25th October 2013

Dear Colleagues

Jack Jones Blue Plaque campaign

I am writing to highlight the shortlist of former and current residents and buildings of Southwark, South East London that have been nominated for a Blue Plaque. Only one will be successful following a public vote.

The shortlist, drawn up by Southwark News and the borough’s historical society includes Jack Jones, International Brigader, trade union and pensioners’ leader and resident in the same flat in Camberwell, Southwark for over 40 years.

You don’t have to be a resident of Southwark to vote and members may wish to email Southwark News to vote for Jack Jones to get the 2013 Blue Plaque. The email address to vote is news@southwarknews.co.uk  and the deadline is this Thursday, 31st October.

The full list of nominees is attached to this circular or available online at this web address: http://www.southwarknews.co.uk/00,news,26499,466,00.htm

I would be grateful if you could bring the content of this circular to the attention of members in your Branch and encourage them to vote.

Yours sincerely

Bob Crow
General Secretary
