BRANCHES AND REGIONAL COUNCILS
Dear Colleague,
JENGbA DEMONSTRATION – 25 MARCH 2020
The union is supporting the Joint Enterprise: Not Guilty by Association (JENGbA) demonstration in London on 25th March 2020 (flyer below).
JENGbA is a campaign that raises awareness over the 700 prisoners who have been convicted for crimes committed by others under “joint enterprise” or “common purpose”. In February 2016 the Supreme Court passed a judgment which confirmed the law had been wrongly interpreted for 30 years, yet those convicted remain in prison and have no right to have their case properly heard.
As those in prison have no recourse to justice in the Court of Appeal, JENGbA are marching on 25th March from 2pm at Victoria Coach Station to the House of Commons to hand in a Joint Enterprise Bill. This Private Member’s Bill calls for legislation to overturn these wrongful convictions. All RMT members, friends and family are welcome to join the march and show their support. For more information about the campaign please see https://jointenterprise.co/
Yours sincerely,
Mick Cash
General Secretary
