Junior Doctors Dispute

Head Office Circular No. NP/228/15

To the Secretary all Branches,

Monday 30 November 2015

Dear Colleagues,

Junior Doctors Dispute

On Tuesday 1st December it is likely that junior doctors across the UK will commence industrial action, as emergency care only, against the Government’s continued threat of imposing an unsafe new contract. On 8th and 16th December there will be a full withdrawal of labour.

This industrial action is the last resort for junior doctors in an attempt to prevent the imposition of a contract that would jeopardize the profession, patient care and the NHS for a generation.

This is not a decision that has been taken lightly and doctors have united in the hope that this action will protect the NHS for future generations.

The ballot result of 98% for strike action means that junior doctors in England have given the BMA a huge mandate to proceed.

Most if not all hospitals in England will have picket lines and I am writing to encourage RMT members to go along and support the junior doctors whenever you can.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
