Dear Colleagues

KING’S CROSS TUBE FIRE
30th ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATIVE EVENT
ON SATURDAY 18 NOVEMBER

On 18 November 1987 a fire broke out at King’s Cross Underground station resulting in 31 people losing their lives.

The subsequent investigation made a series of recommendations about how a repeat of such a tragedy (not limited to a fire, but also involving safe evacuation) could be avoided.

At 11am on Saturday 18 November at the plaque/ clock at King’s Cross (https://www.londonremembers.com/memorials/king-s-cross-fire-clock) we will be commemorating the terrible events of that day. We will hear from a number of speakers (hopefully including representatives of the firefighters) and pledging to continue to remain ever vigilant against the cuts to staffing and weaker safety regulation, which place our members as well as passengers at unacceptable risk.

Please attend the event and encourage friends and family too. We have invited local politicians and media, so the more people who attend the better.

Yours sincerely,

Mick Cash
General Secretary
