ALL BRANCHES & REGIONAL COUNCILS

Dear Colleague,

ENCOURAGING UNION ACTIVISM BY LGBT+, WOMEN, B&EMM AND DISABLED MEMBERS – COURSES 2020

This year we will be continuing the successful two-day courses to encourage union activism by our members who identify as at least one of the following: lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender +, female, black, ethnic minority, or disabled. The dates of the courses are:

• LGBT+ 17-18 February
• Women 19-20 February
• B&EMM 19-20 October
• Disabled members 21-22 October

The course syllabus is the same for all groups, covering the union’s history, structure, how it works and includes a section on how to write and present a resolution. It is a participatory course and delegates need to be aware that writing and public speaking is included.

This short, intensive course requires 1 night away and takes place at the Bob Crow Education Centre in Doncaster. Starting with lunch at 1pm on the first day, the course commences at 2pm and will conclude by 3pm the following day.

All LGBT+, women, B&EMM and disabled members are encouraged to take this course once and then move up to representative/officer level courses. Branches are invited to nominate one representative per course. The attached form can be used for all of these courses and should be returned directly to the Education Centre. The costs of this course will be met by Head Office. Queries to our Equal Opportunities Officer, Jess Webb, on t: 020 7529 8821, j.webb@rmt.org.uk

Yours sincerely,

Mick Cash
General Secretary
