Maternity Action Survey

Head Office Circular No. NP/065/24

Ref: EO/3

13th March 2024

To all Branch and Regional Secretaries

Dear Colleagues,

MATERNITY ACTION SURVEY

Maternity Action is carrying out its third survey asking women on maternity leave or who are pregnant about the impact of the cost of living crisis on their finances, health and wellbeing and families.  Their earlier surveys resulted in publication of their report A Perfect Storm which called for government action to relieve the devastating impact of the current crisis on pregnant women and new mothers.

Maternity Action have asked us to share the survey link with our members and networks as widely as possible.  They are asking women who have been pregnant or on maternity leave from work between January 2023 and the present time to complete the survey - even if they have completed one of their earlier surveys. The survey will take around 5-10 minutes to complete and all responses will be anonymous.

The responses will support their work campaigning and lobbying Government for better maternity pay and benefits for pregnant women and new mothers.

The higher the response rate, the better evidence they will have on the serious detrimental effect on women and their families that the drop in income is having once they go on maternity leave – which is a message we received in our recent women members’ survey.

The survey can be accessed via this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MA_CoL2024
