Wednesday 18th March 2015
Circular No. National Policy NP/043/15/BO
To the Secretary all Branches,
Council of Executive members,
Regional Councils and Regional Offices.
Dear Colleagues,
Mobilise for Joint Union protests for Public Ownership on 31st March
RMT has always believed in a railway that puts people before profit. We want the UK government to replace the current fragmented system with a publicly owned railway that operates as a coherent whole. The case for public ownership is overwhelming and supported by the public and that is the message we want to drive home in the run up to the General Election.
On Tuesday 31st March from 7.30am to 9.00am the following stations have been organised by the RMT to date:
Bristol Cardiff Reading Paddington
Kings Cross Euston Norwich Watford
Edinburgh Haymarket Brighton Three Bridges Chatham
Glasgow Queen St Salisbury Southampton Portsmouth
Birmingham New St Nottingham Birmingham Snow Hill Burton on Trent
East Croydon Barking London Bridge Edinburgh Waverley Waterloo Glasgow Central Dover
A number of other stations in the North West, Yorkshire and Humberside and Northern regions will also be targeted as part of the ongoing RMT campaign on the Northern and TransPennine Franchises (for which a separate circular will shortly be issued)
We want this action to send a loud and clear message to all politicians before the election.
Please mobilise all your members to attend at one of these stations to ensure we have a large, visible and colourful RMT message for the media and the public on the day.
Thanking you in anticipation
Yours sincerely,
Mick Cash
General Secretary
