My ref: EO/27
Circular No. NP/298/16
TO: THE SECRETARY
ALL BRANCHES AND REGIONAL COUNCILS
Dear Colleague,
NATIONAL DISABLED MEMBERS’ ADVISORY COMMITTEE: 2017-2019
I am pleased to inform you that, following a rule change this year, the first National Disabled Members’ Advisory Committee can now be elected. I am therefore seeking nominations from branches for delegates to serve on this Advisory Committee from January 2017 until December 2019.
Delegates will be elected for three years and will be eligible for re-election at the completion of their tenure. There will be three seats for each of the 12 regions and branches may nominate an additional second delegate in accordance with rule (ie if there is a vacancy, on a rolling casual basis subject to election). Should more branches nominate per regional allocation, elections will be held.
The Advisory Committee meets three times a year. The dates next year are: 14 June, 13 September and 15 November. Its role is to advise the Council of Executives on issues relating to disabled members. Items are submitted to the Advisory Committee by branches and regional councils. The Committee makes recommendations to the Council of Executives, via the General Secretary and the Equal Rights Sub-Committee.
Please complete the nomination form and return it by Tuesday 28 February 2017.
Should you have any queries please contact our Equal Opportunities Officer, Jess Webb, on j.webb@rmt.org.uk or t:020 7529 8821.
Yours sincerely,
Mick Cash
General Secretary
