Circular No. NP/198/21
TO: THE SECRETARY
ALL BRANCHES AND REGIONAL COUNCILS
Dear Colleague,
OSIME BROWN: DEMONSTRATION 12 JUNE 2021
The union is supporting the campaign to stop the deportation of Osime Brown, a 21-year-old, black, autistic, learning-disabled man imprisoned on a ‘joint enterprise’ conviction for being present when a mobile phone was stolen.
As the Home Office is expected to give its response to Osime's legal challenge in one week's time, Osime's campaign has called a demonstration on Saturday 12 June, assembling at the Home Office (2 Marsham Street, London SW1P 4DF) at noon and marching to Parliament Square.
More information about the case and an online petition is here: https://www.change.org/p/home-office-stop-the-deportation-of-vulnerable-autistic-man-osime-brown-stopthedeportation-robertbuckland-ukhomeoffice
All union members are encouraged to support this campaign by signing the petition and attending the demonstration.
Please do circulate this as widely as possible.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
