Dear Colleague

Pay Justice for Serco Caledonian Sleeper workers – Demonstration, London, 1st December 10am

RMT members on the Serco Caledonian Sleeper have been taking industrial action in a prolonged fight for pay justice. Members recently overwhelmingly rejected a pay offer from the company and have also voted in favour of further industrial action after being re-balloted due to the anti-trade union laws.

Like other transport workers, Caledonian Sleeper members have been on the frontline throughout the pandemic and deserve a pay award that recognises their dedication and the soaring cost of living.

RMT is now taking its demands for pay justice directly to the Caledonian Sleeper owner, Serco. Serco has profited throughout the pandemic and in August announced it would pay shareholders their first interim dividend since 2014. Serco could easily fund a proper pay rise for these frontline workers but instead it has preferred to line the pockets of its private shareholders.

The demonstration is taking place at 10.00am on Wednesday 1st December outside Serco’s offices at 100 Victoria Street, London, SW1E 5JL.

Please note, this demonstration will take place on the same day as a ‘Save London’s Transport’ protest outside Parliament, which is commencing at 11.00am at Old Palace Yard and we will move on to this demo afterwards. Please attend both demonstrations if you are able to.

Branches are reminded that transport and reasonable expenses to attend the demonstration are a legitimate use of branch funds.

Yours sincerely

Michael Lynch
General Secretary
