Dear Colleagues

Platform survey of offshore oil and gas workers

I am writing to encourage offshore oil and gas members, including those in diving and subsea roles to complete a survey produced by the Platform campaign group, a pro-worker organisation which your Union has been working with to mitigate the impact of job cuts in the offshore oil and gas industry on our members.

The online survey only takes five minutes to complete and is available here https://oil-and-gas.typeform.com/to/ryYfap

A poster promoting the survey is attached and I would urge you to pin this to notice boards offshore and in RMT regional offices. Our fellow OCG unions, Unite, GMB, Nautilus, Balpa and Prospect are all encouraging their respective members to take part in the Platform survey.

At a recent online evidence session with the Just Transition Commission in Scotland, RMT and Platform representatives pressed the employers (OGUK) and regulator (OGA)  to address offshore workers’ growing insecurity and worries over the future. The information gathered from this survey will be a massive boost to your Union’s campaign to protect offshore oil and gas workers’ jobs and livelihoods as part of a worker-led Just Transition.

I would be grateful if you would share this with members in your branch or region and I will keep you informed of all further developments.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
