Protect the right to strike! What we do next – TUC Organising Call and date for National Day of Action

Head Office Circular No. NP/19/23

To all Branches and Regional Councils

17th January 2023

Dear Colleagues

Protect the right to strike! What we do next – TUC Organising Call and date for National Day of Action

Last night thousands of trade unionists and workers descended on Parliament to protest the Conservative Government’s draconian new anti-strike Bill and send a clear message to the Government that we will relentlessly fight this fundamental attack on our democratic and human rights to withdraw our labour.

I would like to thank each and every one of you that turned out for the Emergency Demo and for the continued support of those that couldn’t make it.

I wanted to share some next steps for us to take over the coming days and weeks to continue to fight the anti-strike bill

  • TUC Organising Zoom Call Wednesday 18th Jan 6pm – The TUC is hosting a mass organising call of members and activists to outline what we can do next: Please register for this Zoom meeting here

The TUC will hold a national ‘Protect the right to Strike’ day on Wednesday 1st February. Following the news that our Train Driver members will be taking strike action on the 1st and 3rd February I would encourage everyone to get to a picket line, and to support local TUC rallies and events
