Head Office Circular No. NP/308/13/MC

To the Secretary all Branches,
Council of Executive members,
Regional Councils and Regional Offices.

Wednesday 06th November 2013

Dear Colleagues,

Protest at the imprisonment of Colombian trade unionist

As you know, on the 25th August, our colleague - Colombian trade union leader Huber Ballesteros, was imprisoned and charged with rebellion whilst leading strikes across the country. He remains in prison with no trial date set.

Justice for Colombia, together with RMT, other trade unions and Labourstart have been running a petition calling for his freedom - we have over 10,000 signatures so far.

At 16.00 on Tuesday 26th November, 3 months after his arrest, we are planning to hand the petition into the Colombian Embassy, 3 Hans Crescent  London SW1X 0LN. Our Colombian trade union colleagues will be handing in the petition to the Colombian President's office at the same time.

All members are encouraged to attend.

Yours sincerely

Bob Crow
General Secretary
