Dear Colleague,

RESEARCH ON PREGNANCY/MATERNITY/PARENTAL DISCRIMINATION

The TUC is working with the Institute of Employment Studies (IES) on behalf of the Department of Trade and Business to support evidence gathering on pregnancy and maternity discrimination. This will help inform the regulations that will be brought in via the Employment Rights Bill to strengthen redundancy and dismissal protections for pregnant women and new parents.

The TUC have requested our assistance in helping IES speak directly with pregnant women, mothers and parents to discuss their experiences of discrimination, unfair treatment, dismissal or redundancy before leave, during leave or when returning to work after maternity leave, adoption, neonatal care, paternity, bereavement, shared parental leave or other forms of parental leave.

If you have experienced such discrimination, this study will greatly benefit from your participation.  Please complete this short opt-in form:  https://online1.snapsurveys.com/rdl5mc

The interviews would last up to one hour and will take place between September and October 2025. Please note that completing the form does not guarantee your participation or obligate you to participate.

I would be grateful if you would bring this circular to the attention of your members.

Yours sincerely,

Eddie Dempsey
