RMT/ Action for Rail – Keep East Coast public - Day of action – Friday 7 March

and protest at Liberal Democrat Spring Conference in York  REMINDER & UPDATE

The East Coast mainline rail service must stay in the public sector. On Friday the RMT backed Action for Rail campaign is calling protests across the country designed to keep this issue in the spotlight and build awareness of its importance.

Protests will take place along the route at Edinburgh Waverley (7 – 9am), Berwick (8 - 9am), Durham (8 – 9am), Newcastle (8 - 9am), York (1 – 2pm), Keighley (5:30 – 6:30pm), Hull (4:30 – 5:30pm), Wakefield Westgate (7:30 – 9:30am), Doncaster (7:30 – 9am), Newark North Gate (time to be confirmed), Peterborough (7:30 – 8:30am), Stevenage (8 – 9am) and Kings Cross (from 7:30am) stations.

The lunchtime event at York stationwill be a particular focus, coinciding with MPs and delegates to the Liberal Democrat Spring conference arriving into the city. (Activists wishing to travel up to York from London are encouraged to take the 10:30am service from Kings Cross platform 2 arriving into York at 12:31pm).
