RMT NATIONAL DISABLED MEMBERS’ CONFERENCE – 8-9 APRIL 2022
I am pleased to inform you that, Covid restrictions permitting, the 2022 National Disabled Members’ Conference will take place in Manchester on Friday 8 April (commencing at 2pm) and Saturday 9 April (concluding by 4pm). The venue is the Mechanics Institute, 103 Princess Street, Manchester M1 6DD.
Branches and Regional Councils are entitled to nominate a maximum of four delegates who define themselves as disabled. Please note that “disability” covers a whole range of physical and mental issues which are not necessarily visible eg. dyslexia. Nominations should be on the attached form, which should be emailed to our Equal Opportunities Officer firstname.lastname@example.org by 28 February 2022.
Branches and Regional Councils are also invited to submit motions for the agenda of the Conference which should be relevant to the concerns of our disabled members and must conform to Union policy. All motions must be emailed in by 28 February 2022. In addition, invitations would be welcome from Branches and Regional Councils to host the 2022 Conference.
Branches and Regional Councils need to confirm with delegates that they are up to date with their subscriptions and what arrangements will be made towards their expenses before nominating. A £35 per delegate payment is made to Branches, up to a maximum of seven, i.e. £245 per Branch per year, payable in respect of delegates to Grades Conferences or the RMT Women’s, Young Members’, Health and Safety, Black and Ethnic Minorities, LGBT+, or Disabled Members’ Conferences.
Should you have any queries please contact our Equal Opportunities Officer, Jess Webb, on email@example.com.
