RMT Political Groups in Local Transport Authorities

As you will be aware the Union has established Parliamentary Groups at the Westminster and Scottish Parliaments and the Wales Assembly.

The Council of Executives has also been considering whether it is possible to establish a similar group in the Greater London Assembly (GLA) as the GLA has some powers of scrutiny over Transport in London.

In this respect the C of E have asked that I seek discussions with GLA members on this issue and I am in the process of doing this.

In considering this matter the C of E have also asked that a consultation takes place with Branches and Regional Councils as to whether the Union should establish similar groups in other local transport authorities.
