Save Our Seafarers – national campaign meeting

Further to circular no. NP/011/19 of 15th January 2020, following the end of the SOS 2020 campaign and in line with the NEC instruction, I have organised an online meeting to discuss progress made in the campaign, areas where we can improve and to set the aims for the RMT’s core maritime campaign in 2021 and onwards.

The meeting will be chaired by the President and will take place via Zoom (joining details are attached to this message) on:

Tuesday 26th January 2021, 11-1300.

Our seafarers have been hit hard by opportunist employers during the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly in the passenger ferry and offshore supply sectors. The experiences gained from the SOS 2020 campaign will inform and refresh the fight ahead of us to regain, increase and organise local Ratings, across all sectors of the shipping industry.

The NEC has instructed me to invite Maritime branches to send one delegate each to this meeting. Papers will be circulated ahead of the meeting. Please email the name of your delegate to the National Policy Department at: d.crimes@rmt.org.uk
