Save P&O Jobs – Save Britain’s Ferries: Demonstrations on THURSDAY 18th June
Two demonstrations will be taking place this Thursday, the 18th June, at 3pm. The demonstrations will be held in Dover and Hull to protest at the scandalous actions of P&O Ferries in trying to cut 1,100 jobs, including 740 seafarers from Dover and Hull, while taking in excess of £25 million in taxpayers’ money
The details of the demonstrations are:
Hull: Assemble at Kingston retail park at 2.45pm
Dover: Assemble outside the RMT Dover office (Snargate street) at 2.45pm
P&O is owned by a multinational that paid a £270 million dividend on 29th April this year. It is taking UK taxpayers’ money and cutting the jobs of UK ratings. Its actions are a national disgrace and we need to raise the pressure on this company in every possible way.
Branches and Regional Councils are urged to support these demonstrations and to publicise them among trades councils and other union branches. Legitimate expenses will be covered by branches.
When you publicise these demonstrations, please remember to encourage members and supporters to sign RMT’s online petition and please also write to your MP using the Union’s template letter if you have not already done so.
I would be grateful if you would share this update with all members in your branch or region and I will keep you informed of further developments in this campaign.
Yours sincerely,
Mick Cash
General Secretary
