Circular No: NP/006/20
TO ALL SHIPPING BRANCHES AND REGIONAL COUNCILS.
Our ref: S7/3/5
14th January 2020
Dear Colleagues
Seafarers Advice and Information Line (SAIL)
I am writing to remind all seafarer members of the services offered to them by SAIL which are supported by your Union.
The free helpline (0800 160 1842) and email advice@sailine.org.uk is a ‘citizens advice’ style service for UK merchant navy seafarers and their families. Trained staff provide free and confidential advice to seafarers in a number of areas, including financial, benefits, housing and family.
SAIL is funded and operated by a number of maritime charities, including Seafarers UK and Seafarers Hospital Society (Dreadnought) where RMT is a trustee. More information is available on their website www.sailine.org.uk and a hard copy poster of SAIL’s contact details is attached to this circular for display in mess rooms. To request more posters and/or a batch of SAIL leaflets please contact the Assistant National Secretary, Mark Carden m.carden@rmt.org.uk
I would be grateful if you could bring the contents of this circular to the attention of members in your branch and you will be kept updated with all further developments.
Yours sincerely
Mick Cash
General Secretary
