Dear Colleagues,

 

SPECIAL TRADE UNION EVENTS 2020

 

Join RMT members, as well as friends and family, at these great social and commemorative events this year. They are all chances to celebrate RMT and other unions' history and recommit to preserving and extending our legacy:

 

Workers Memorial Day – takes place on 28 April every year, the focus of the day is to ‘remember the dead: fight for the living’ and the theme this year is occupational stress. Details of UK events will be published on the TUC website - https://www.tuc.org.uk/workers-memorial-day

 

With Banners Held High – this Trade Union event is taking place on Saturday 16th May, at Wood Street in Wakefield, Yorkshire. https://www.facebook.com/events/2766757220081621/

 

The 18th RMT and Cuba Solidarity Campaign Garden Party is taking place on Wednesday 10th June 2020 at Maritime House, Clapham. More details, including how to order tickets, will be circulated to you in due course.
 
The 136th Durham Miners’ Gala will be held on Saturday 11th July 2020.
Marching from the Market Place to the Racecourse, with the Big Meeting starting at 1pm – as always, this will include speeches from a number of key speakers. https://www.friendsofdurhamminersgala.org/gala_information

 

Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival - in Dorset over the weekend of Friday 17th - Sunday 19st July 2020. Includes commemorative events, music (including marching bands), kids' activities and speakers - with the main march and rally taking place on the Sunday. https://www.tolpuddlemartyrs.org.uk/festival

Burston Strike School Rally - in Burston, Norfolk on Sunday 6th September 2020.
This event celebrates the longest running strike in history - there will be music, speakers and stalls. https://burstonstrikeschool.co.uk/rally2020/

 

Wigan Diggers Festival – this event celebrates The Diggers movement of the 17th Century with music, poetry and film, and is taking place on Saturday 12th September 2020.
