Circular No. NP/018/20
To the Secretary all Branches and Regional Councils.
22 January 2020
Dear Colleagues,
SUPPORT ABM CLEANERS ON LONDON UNDERGROUND
I’m writing to update you on our campaign to win justice for cleaning grade members working for ABM on the London Underground contract. RMT is stepping up the campaign to end the scandal of outsourcing and get these workers brought in-house.
Next Wednesday, on 29 January, we’ll be holding a demonstration from 1-2pm opposite Old Palace Yard, Houses of Parliament SW1A 2BE where we’ll be calling on MPs to support our campaign to end privatisation of Tube cleaning and launching a new report titled ‘Dirty Work: ABM and the outsourcing of London’s Underground cleaners’.
If you or your members can make it, come and show your support for our cleaning grade members at ABM.
MPs are already supporting our campaign through an Early Day Motion 71 ‘Outsourcing of TfL Underground and Overground cleaners’ (https://edm.parliament.uk/early-day-motion/53526/outsourcing-of-tfl-underground-and-overground-cleaners. Please write to your MP asking them to support this EDM.
We’re also asking members to sign our petition and respond to the Mayor directly using our webtool.

• Petition: http://bit.ly/2RpiOtp
These people need our solidarity and our strength. Denied their right to strike by anti-union laws, we need to win the argument to get them brought back in house and treated properly.
I would be grateful if you would bring the contents of this circular to your members’ attention.
Yours sincerely,
Mick Cash
General Secretary
