Support RMT protests for public ownership at your local station on 31st March

Wednesday 4th March 2015

Circular No. National Policy NP/035/15/BO

To the Secretary all Branches,
Council of Executive members,
Regional Councils and Regional Offices.

Dear Colleagues,

Support RMT protests for public ownership at your local station on 31st March

RMT has always believed in a railway that puts people before profit. We want the UK government to replace the current fragmented system with a publicly owned railway that operates as a coherent whole. The case for public ownership is overwhelming and that is the message we want to drive home in the run up to the General Election.
On Tuesday 31st March RMT will be targeting a number of stations in each region where we can ensure a strong presence and leafleting activity in support of this demand. Branches are urged to claim this date now, with further details of stations and activity to follow.
The day after this (1st April) Action for Rail will also be targeting a number of stations across the country to commemorate the 22nd anniversary of the privatisation of the rail industry. We want this action to send a clear message to all politicians before the election.

In order for us to co-ordinate this 48 hours of activity and ensure the maximum level of mobilisation please let your Regional Offices know immediately if you could organise an event on 31st March or any potential issues at stations on these two days.

Thanking you in anticipation

Yours sincerely,

Mick Cash
General Secretary
