TO ALL BRANCHES AND REGIONAL COUNCILS
21st June 2024
Dear Colleague
The Big Ride for Palestine 2024
The Big Ride for Palestine has held a ride every summer since 2015 focusing on flying the flag in solidarity with Palestine and raising funds for Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA) for children’s projects and more recently, for Palestine Riders and for the Gaza Sunbirds paracycling team.
This summer, the Big Ride for Palestine is organising a series of one day ‘Big Rides’ in different regions in the UK. These will happen between 20 July and 10 August and will be full day rides with distances ranging from 25 miles to 40 miles
Join The Big Ride for Palestine in London
One of the rides on Saturday 10th August will be starting from outside of RMT Head Office on Chalton Street with a send-off from RMT and will include an approximately 28-mile ride including mostly flat, tarmac road and cycleway with minimal off-road cycleway and will include a mix of urban, parks and wetland areas.
More Information
All the information you need to take part and book your place on the Big Ride for Palestine can be found here https://www.thebigride4palestine.com/big-ride-2024
Places on the ride can be booked for £10 (low-income rate) to £20 (Solidarity rate) and this year the ride will be supporting Middle East Children's Alliance (MECA) and Gaza Sunbirds. The MECA project will focus on immediate needs including the provision of food, water and psycho social support. The Gaza Sunbirds, whose dream is to take part in the 2024 Paralympics, have been using their bikes to deliver emergency aid in their communities. Three Sunbirds are currently on their way to the Paralympics which would be a real beacon of inspiration to all supporters of Palestine.
The Gaza Sunbirds fundraiser this year will be split between their work on the ground in Gaza and supporting the team in their quest to represent Palestine at the Paralympics.
Please do what you can to support this important cause and share this circular with your branch members.
Yours sincerely
Michael Lynch
General Secretary
