TUC HeartUnions day of action – 11 Feb

Head Office Circular No. NP/031/16/MC

To the Secretary all Branches,
Council of Executive members,
Regional Councils and Regional Offices

Thursday 28th January 2016

Dear Colleagues,

TUC HeartUnions day of action – 11 Feb

In addition to all of the draconian restrictions proposed in the Trade Union Bill,
the Government’s own impact assessment into the cost of the Bill reveals that unions will be hit with huge financial costs of in excess of £26 million over the next five years.

The TUC has agreed to co-ordinate a week of action against the Trade Union Bill 8-14 February 2016. This week will focus on the value of trade unions in a modern economy, and why the trade union bill is counterproductive. It will be branded HeartUnions.

The week will include a high-visibility day of action on Thursday 11 February 2016. Materials will be made available from Regional Offices and branches are encouraged to organise leafletting events at stations.

RMT leafletting activities will take place from 08.00 until 10.00 at the following stations:

•    London King’s Cross
•    Cardiff Central
•    Paddington
•    Liverpool Lime Street
•    Aberdeen
•    Glasgow Central
•    Edinburgh Waverley
•    Birmingham New Street
•    Nottingham

Additionally, leafletting activities will take place from 16.00 until 18.00 at the following stations:

•    Waterloo
•    Southampton

The official website which provides briefings and resource packs can be visited here: http://heartunions.org/

Please put this date in your diary and contact your Regional Office with details of the station you will leaflet and to request materials.

Yours sincerely,

Mick Cash
General Secretary
