Circular No. NP/293/20

Dear Colleague,

TUC REPORT LAUNCH: THE RISE OF THE FAR RIGHT – BUILDING A TRADE UNION RESPONSE

Right wing populist moments have not only gained electorally but their messages have found their way into the mainstream. Their narratives are aimed at dividing working people. The rise of the far right is an international phenomenon that demands a joined up response. The TUC has produced a report which explores how the trade union movement is responding and what more we can do to work together internationally and build solidarity against those who try to divide us.

The report will be launched on Friday 4 December 2020, 11:15am-12.30pm

Speakers: Frances O’Grady, TUC General Secretary, Kevin Courtney, TUC General Council International Spokesperson and NEU Joint General Secretary; Chidi King, ITUC Director of Equality; Dr Stiofán Ó Nualláin, Trademark Belfast.

Chaired by Gail Cartmail, TUC President & Unite Assistant General Secretary

To join the launch, please register before at: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_aiLyRqWdS9KE6YY8p6Q_bg

The event will be followed in the new year by a series of online workshops for union reps and activists offering practical solutions to challenging far right narratives in the workplace.

Yours sincerely,

Mick Cash
General Secretary
