Head Office Circular No: NP/034/24
TO ALL BRANCHES AND REGIONAL COUNCILS
24th January 2024
Dear Colleague
Two events in the Cleaners Are Essential campaign:
- 7th February 2024: Cleaners Are Essential campaign: mobilising broadcast, 5.30pm
The union is stepping up our campaign to win better pay and conditions for cleaning grade members and to pressure employers to scrap the outsourcing model and bring cleaners into direct employment. We’ll be holding an online broadcast to help mobilise for the next period of activity in the campaign on 7th February, open to all our cleaning grades. Please bring this important meeting to the attention of your cleaning grade members.
Cleaning grades can register online for this meeting here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5W9QJ2D
- Joint union lobby of Labour – Why outsourced workers need Labour’s New Deal – Convocation Hall, Church House, London, 12th March 2024, 1230pm onwards
The Labour Party has committed to oversee the ‘biggest wave of insourcing for a generation’ if it is elected to government. RMT is determined to hold them to this promise and push them to make them a reality. As part of our work we’ve organised a joint union lobby of Labour politicians on the afternoon of 12th March. There are 50 spaces available for this event open to outsourced workers and in particular our cleaning grades. To ensure a good turnout we will need to support our cleaning and other outsourced worker grades financially so funding train tickets to the lobby will be a legitimate use of branch funds.
Members can register for this event using this form here and we will send on names to Branch Officers and Regional Offices. Please encourage outsourced workers in your branches, including our cleaning grades, to express an interest here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5S8JDT7
Yours sincerely
