19th November 2015

Dear Colleague,

URGENT: “Keep CalMac Public” Lobby and Debate – Scottish Parliament, Wednesday 25th November, from 1.30pm

Further to circular No.167/15 of 15th September 2015, a debate will take place in the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh on Wednesday 25th November on the current tender process for the next contract for Clyde and Hebrides Ferry Services (CHFS), which the existing public sector operator CalMac is bidding to retain, against Serco the private company that specialises in failure.

The union is calling on all RMT members and activists in Scotland to mobilise for attendance at the Lobby of the Scottish Parliament which will take place from 1.30pm, in order to press MSPs of all parties to support CalMac and publicly owned and operated lifeline Scottish ferry services.

Regional Organiser Gordon Martin is co-ordinating the Lobby and can be contacted on Gordon.Martin@rmt.org.uk 07884 655217 (Mob) or at the RMT Glasgow Office on 0141 332 1117. National Secretary, Steve Todd will also be in attendance.

Attendance at the lobby and debate is encouraged and any costs incurred can be treated as legitimate use of Branch funds. Please bring any RMT banners, flags, whistles etc in order to maximise the impact of the union’s activity.

I would be grateful if you could bring the content of this circular to the attention of all members in your Branch.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
General Secretary
