Circular No: NP/278/19
TO ALL BRANCHES & REGIONAL COUNCILS.

Dear Colleagues
Wapping – The Workers Story – Request for Donation
The RMT has received an appeal for donations from Platform Films, towards the completion of a film about the year-long industrial dispute, which began in 1986 when Rupert Murdoch plotted to move production of his papers overnight from central London’s Fleet Street to a secretly equipped and heavily guarded plant at Wapping, a docklands district in East London.
After a protracted struggle, 5500 men and women lost their jobs and centuries of tradition in one of London’s last manufacturing industries came to an end.
The trailer of the film is available here - https://vimeo.com/311110278
The Union has agreed to make a donation nationally, and Branches and Regional Councils may wish to consider doing so as well. All donors will receive a DVD of the film and be credited in the final film.
You can make a donation online here - http://www.platformfilms.co.uk/
Or cheques, made payable to Platform Films, can be sent to: Platform Films, Marx Memorial Library, 37a Clerkenwell Green, London, EC1R 0DU.
Yours sincerely
Mick Cash
General Secretary
