New Inflation rates for year to September 2022

 

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has published[1] inflation rates for the year to September 2022. The Retail Prices Index (RPI) increased to 12.6%, a 0.3% increase from 12.3% for the year to August 2022.

 

The alternative measures of CPI and CPIH increased to 10.1% (up 0.2% from August) and 8.8% (up 0.2% from August) respectively.

 

Your union’s policy is to use the RPI rate in all pay negotiations. Should an employer attempt to use alternative inflation measures during pay talks, please inform the National Policy department as soon as possible.
