RMT “Festival of Trade Union Education & Organising” 2014
I am pleased to bring to your attention the inaugural Festival of Trade Union Education & Organising that is being organised at our Union’s National Education Centre in Doncaster. The event will take place on Saturday 20th September 2014, commencing at 10.00hrs and closing at 17.00hrs.
The Festival is open to every single RMT member and their families and it is hoped as many of them as possible will take the opportunity to spend an enjoyable day out for all the family at their Education Centre. There will be a programme of short and interesting seminars (20/30mins) on Trade Union education and organising. The festival will also have a full afternoon of live music and guest speakers on the main stage as well as stalls from trade union & labour organisations. For the children activities will be provided all day. Naturally the Festival will have food and drink for sale all day.
Tickets (one per family group) for the event are FREE and each ticket carries a number which may well be lucky as each ticket will be entered on arrival into the Festival draw. Tickets are available by contacting the National Education Officer, at RMT Education, 47-49 Thorne Road, Doncaster, DN1 2EX or at email@example.com
It is not possible to offer accommodation at the centre, but there is plenty of reasonably priced accommodation nearby and rail links to Doncaster are very good.
I would also ask if Regional Councils and RMT Branches would consider assisting as many members and their families to attend as possible, perhaps by organising transport etc. Also Regional Councils, Branches, and Advisory Committees might wish to consider having their own stall at the event. Again for any further details please contact the National Education Officer at firstname.lastname@example.org
I sincerely hope as a union we can make this event a great success with a great turnout of our members and their families and I look forward to seeing many of you there.
